Muscat: Around 3,340 kilograms of improperly stored fish were destroyed by the municipal agency at Jalan Bani Bu Ali, according to a statement from the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in Oman.
"Jalan Bani Bu Ali Municipality conducted an inspection campaign on a centre that stored and dried fish, and sold them to consumers. The amount of fish that was destroyed was 2,690 kg of salted fish, 350 kg of dried fish and 300 kg of fish that was stored in an unsafe manner," the statement read.
The ministry added, "The Municipality also found a number of illegal expatriate workers at the centre, where they were caught cutting, preparing and drying the fish in an unhealthy manner with unhygienic equipment. Action has been taken against them."
