Bengaluru: As many as 32 women nursing graduates from Kerala, who completed their graduation in Mangaluru, have been rescued from human trafficking racket.
They were suspected to be victims of human trafficking racket and were rescued at Kempegowda International Airport when they were on their way to pursue a short-term course to learn German at the University of Traditional Medicine of Armenia (UTMA).
Based on a complaint filed by immigration officials of KIA, Northeast-division DCP Kala Krishnaswamy arrested one Tony Tom, who was taking the women to Armenia.
According to police, Tom runs an education consultancy in Mangaluru and offered to facilitate the study at UTMA. Tom was arrested at around 4 am on Tuesday when he, along with the victims, came to the airport to catch a flight for Armenia. Immigration officials suspected foul play as they doubted the existence of such a course in the university. They then handed over tom and nurses to BIAL police for investigation.
