Bengaluru: In an effort to push up the gross enrolment ratio in higher education, Karnataka State Education and Examination Board has announced another supplementary exam for II PU students. It will be held from August 21 to September 02.
Officials said over 7.2 lakh students appeared for II PU exams and more than 5.2 lakh passed. In the II PU supplementary exam held in June, nearly 1.6 lakh students appeared and 50,000 passed, taking the pass percentage to 32%.
“Usually, students lose a year to write another supplementary. The second supplementary will prevent that. We will ensure the results are released within 10-12 days so that students get admission for higher education,” said an official.
KSEAB is sending SMSes to all failed candidates informing them of the new opportunity. A meeting of college principals and PU officials at the district level has been held virtually to spread awareness. With the news being flashed on media too, the department hopes 1 lakh students will write the exam.
The exam is only for those who failed in II PU exams. Those wishing to improve their results will not be allowed to appear for the second supplementary, officials said.
For the first time, the board this year allowed those students who had missed the main exams due to shortage of attendance to appear for the supplementary.
