2nd South Indian muslim NGO conference held

Bangalore, 10 March 2013: Second south Indian conference of Muslims NGO's was held today in Bangalore. Representatives of about 200 NGO's from Karnataka, Kerala, TN and AP and individual social activists were present at the conference.
Rehman Khan, Minister for Minority Affairs, Govt. of India was the Guest of Honor for the morning session. Other distinguished guests and speakers included Zameer Pasha, Principal Secretary, Dept.of Minority, Govt. of Karnataka. (Rtd), Naveed Hamid, Member National Integration Council, Govt. of India, Nisar U, IPS, Former IGP, Karnataka, Syed Mohammed Beary, Managing Director, Bearys Group of Institutions, Iftikhar Ahmed, Chief Editor - Daily Salar. Mohammed Sanaulla, Principal Secretary, Backward Classes Welfare Department, Govt of Karnataka was the Guest of Honor for the second session starting post lunch.
The various government schemes in the field education, health and employments were brought to light and methods of their effective utilisation were discussed. A talk on Right To Information Act (RTI) and its utilisation by NGO's was presented by APCR.
Addressing the gathering Mr Rehman Khan said that to utilise most of the Govt. schemes available for the poor one must be the holder of 'BPL Ration Card'. So he advised the NGO's to work in this direction. He also said that the Muslims should stop the blame game and stop complaining the government for their under development and that Muslims themselves should start working towards their progress.
A decision was taken at the conference to start an information decimation center on all the available government schemes and help the schemes to reach its end users. A corpus fund of 50 lack was raised and it was decided to start a pilot project in Hassan district with the help of existing infrastructure of Karnataka Zakath and Charitable Trust.
