RIYADH: Around 2,000 engineering certificates have been caught and referred to security bodies to be dealt with according to the forgery system in the Kingdom, Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) President Jameel Al-Baqawi has said. “No expatriate can work with a fake certificate in the Kingdom now. Engineers will be given residence visas only after their certificates are proved to be genuine,” Al-Baqawi was quoted as saying by local media on Friday. A committee has been formed on the directive of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif to deal with the issue of fake certificates, he said. Al-Baqawi said strict procedures have been adopted to curb the phenomenon of fake engineers. “The SCE exchanges information with a number of bodies and engineering unions in other countries. This move brought down the number of forgers coming to the Kingdom by sixfold during 2015,” he added. -arabnews
