2 dies in a road accident on Bhatkal NH-17

Bhatkal - 06 Feb 2012: 2 persons died on the spot when three vehicles involved in a road accident here at NH-17 near Mavinkatte Bhatkal. The incident took place in the early morning around 5:30 am. According to the sources, the road was partially blocked as a result of collision between KSRTC Bus and a Lorry earlier in the night but in the morning an ill-fated mini lorry heading towards Kannur from Bijapur rammed into the stationery vehicles killing 2 persons on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Arshad and Asif (Cleaners). The lorry driver, Mansoor Asif escaped with minor injuries. A case has been registered at Murdeshwar Police Station.

The dead bodies were removed with the help of social worker, Mr Nisar Ruknuddin and local residents and handed over to the families after conducting port-mortem at Bhatkal Govt Hospital.
