04:12AM Sat 9 May, 2015
More than 1.5 lakh students will appear for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) 2015 to be held on May 12 and 13.
The entrance test will be conducted in two sessions on each day. On the first day, in the morning session, between 10:30 am and 11:50 am, students will appear for Biology paper, in the afternoon session (2:30 pm and 3:50 pm) for Mathematics test. The following day, on May 13, Physics and Chemistry exams will be conducted in the morning and afternoon sessions, respectively.
While earlier the CET exams were scheduled for April-end, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) had rescheduled the exam on account of the nationwide transport strike on April 30. According to officials, as many as 1,57,580 candidates will take the CET this time. Of these, 82,079 are boys and 75,501 girls. There are 2,219 Horanadu and Gadinadu candidates.
343 exam centres
The examination will be conducted at 343 exam centres across the State in 53 places. As many as 73 centres are located in Bengaluru alone. This year, the State government has added Doddaballapur in Bangalore Rural as one of the centres. A total of 343 observers, 686 special invigilation squad members, 343 custodians, 9911 invigilators and 16,900 officers have been deployed for the exam duties. The KEA will also distribute brochures to students at the exam hall on May 13, after Chemistry exam.
Each exam centre will have one observer (of the rank of Assistant Commissioner) deputed by the deputy commissioner, one custodian, two special squad members from KEA, one deputy chief and one additional chief and one invigilator each for 16 candidates.
This year, KEA is conducting Kannada language exam for Horanadu and Gadinadu candidates on the second day of the entrance after the test for core subjects. Usually, these students would have to write the exam on another day. KEA Director Sushma Godbole attributed it to the delay in the entrance test.
