14-Day Strict Lockdown Begins: Less commuters on the road today in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: 10 May 2021 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) According to the state government's announcement, a 14-day lockdown will begin at 6 a.m. today across the State. Since the start of the lockdown, strict steps have been taken in Bhatkal and other regions, and the administration has barred two-wheelers and four-wheelers from the roads to minimize congestion. Although shops selling essential items remained open from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
In Bhatkal this morning, because vehicles were not permitted, only locals were seen shopping and walking with their belongings. It seemed to be much lesser than the previous days, and the roads seemed to be deserted.
It must be remembered that a part of the population in Bhatkal considers the vehicle ban during exemption hours to be unjust and unfair. As word of the vehicle ban circulated via the media through the Assistant Commissioner yesterday, a slew of messages began to circulate on social media, claiming that many commonplace items were no longer available near the homes. The explanation for this is that the majority of the products are purchased at the main store, where all of the goods are sold at the same time.
As a result, the administration’s exemption does not appear to be of much value. People are also using social media to talk to their leaders, pleading with them to rethink and find a solution.
A strict police patrol has been set up at various locations in Bhatkal during the lockdown, and every passer-by is being questioned. Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner and other government officials are monitoring the situation by patrolling the markets and streets. On April 27, the state had already imposed a 14-day corona curfew.
Due to an increase in Corona cases, the government has announced a 14-day complete lockdown beginning today and lasting until 6 a.m. on May 24.
