11 members elected to Karnataka Upper House

BENGALURU: Adding to the list of ministerial aspirants in the Congress-JD(S) coalition government, 11 new members have been elected to the Karnataka Legislative Council. Five candidates of the BJP, four from Congress and two from JD(S) were elected unopposed on Monday in the biennial elections to the Upper House. B M Farooq of the JD(S) is a ministerial berth aspirant in the coalition government. Dr Tejaswini Gowda, K P Nanjundi Vishwakarma, Raghunath Rao Malkhapure, N Ravi Kumar, S Rudregowda of the BJP, Aravind Kumar Arali, C M Ibrahim, K Govindraj and K Harish Kumar of the Congress, B M Farooq and S L Dharmegowda of the JD(S) were elected unanimously to the 11 vacant posts in the Upper House. 11 seats of the legislative council are slated to fall vacant on June 17, after completion of term of B J Puttaswamy, M R seetharam, Motamma, D S Veeraiah, Syed Mudeer Aga, Somanna, Raghunath Rao Malkhapure, Bhanuprakash, C M Ibrahim, K Govindraj and B S Suresh Source: New Indian Express
