11 arrested for gambling

Bhatkal - 02 Dec 2011: The Bhatkal police on Wednesday arrested 11 persons involved in a Matka Gambling and recovered Rs. 56,050said Mr. M. Narayan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bhatkal said in a press meet.

According to the sources, The Bhatkal town police have arrested four persons and recovered Rs. 35,350 while the Murdeshwar police arrested six persons and recovered Rs. 20,700. The arrested were identified as Lachmaiah Jattaiah Naik, Mukund Naik, Deepak Naik, Venkatesh Naik, Mohammad Sayyad Abdul Khadar, Subray Bhandari, Sukra Naik, Ganapati Naik, Anil Prabhu, and Limbaiah Naik.

The Gokarna police have also arrested one person, Keshav Shetty of Ankola and recovered Rs. 1,050.

Criminal cases against some suspected Matka bookies have been registered in Bhatkal and Honnavar as a precautionary measure. Police said.
