JEDDAH: Nama Charity Organization in Makkah distributed Zakat Al-Fitr among 10,000 families in Jeddah by setting up a number of distribution points, a local publication has reported. Faisal bin Abdulrahman Al-Homaid, manager of Nama, said the project stems from the long experience of the organization in implementing such projects. He said: “The project involves four stages: Employment and delivering trusteeships, marketing and receiving agencies and sales, supervision and managing the operations and calculating the Zakat Al-Fitr and delivering it to beneficiaries.” “The system also allows printing receipts signed by the beneficiaries registered on the list of the organization. These beneficiaries who were thoroughly studied by the social committees to check on their needs,” he said. Al-Homaid said there are about 50 centers to receive Zakat in the different districts and neighborhoods of Jeddah, in the markets and shopping centers, in addition to other branches located in the Grand Mosque and the Saudi Post. The distribution of these points takes into consideration the geographic element for those who want a nearby center to deliver his share of Zakat, which should be delivered before Eid Al-Fitr prayers in accordance with Islamic Shariah. He said the organization launched a hashtag “My Fitr for the one who deserves it” this year which aims to address youths using the most advanced technological communication means. “The organization makes use of Saudi youths’ capabilities; about 200 young men helped in implementing the project. These young men were chosen and trained after conducting personal interviews with the thousands who applied to extend a helping hand to deliver Zakat before Eid prayers,” he said. -arabnews
