10-year old Bhatkal boy defeats SSLC students in Karate to secure berth to International level championship

Bhatkal 14 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A 10 year old boy hailing from Bhatkal and a student of IIIrd standard at Darul Aimaan school in Mangaluru has fought his way into the international level karate championship set to take place in early February, by beating way older students than him, at the national level karate championship held at Moodbidri on January 12, Saturday.
Ismail Nameer S/O Nisar Ahmed Ruknuddin, is being trained karate at his school in Mangaluru, and is a green II belt student of the martial art.
The national level event was organised by Moodbidri M.K Ananthraj college of physical education.
Earlier, Nameer won the state level competition held at Moodbidri, and secured second place in the National level also held at Moodbidri. The kid is now set to take part in the international level championship that will be held in Mumbai in early February, dates of which has not been announced as yet.
Nameer while speaking to Bhatkallys.com over phone call, said he was very close to winning the national level championship and it was only because of one move that he secured second place. He however thanked Almighty Allah for the success and aimed at improving his ranking in the international competition.
Participants from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Udupi and other parts of the country participated in the competition but only three including Nameer were selected for international level. During the course of tournament Nameer played a total of five matches wherein he had to play against participants much older to him in age, but he managed to secure berth to the international event.
Earlier during state level tournament, his parents reported that Nameer had fought against students of PU I and PU II and had managed to knock them out.
