10-year old Bhatkal boy bags Gold and Bronze medal at National Open Karate Championship

Mangaluru: Participating in the 5th National level Open Karate Championship – 2020, a 10-year old Bhatkal boy, Ismail Nameer has secured first place in Kata category of Karate and secured third place in the Kumite category. The championship was organised by Shorin – Ryu Karate Association, Moodbidri in association with M K Ananthraj College of Physical Education, Moodbidri. Nameer, s/o Nisar Ahmed Ruknuddin of Bhatkal, is a grade IV student at Barakah International School in Mangaluru and stays with his parents in Mangaluru. He has been keenly participating in the Karate events over the last few years and has had an exceptional run in the local, state level, national level and international level tournaments so far. Nameer has a few accolades to his name in his age category of Karate he secured third place at the 24th Asian/International WFSKO Open Karate Championship organized by World Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Organisation between Feb 9 and 10 2019 in Mumbai. He emerged triumphant at state level and National level tournaments both of which were held at Moodbidri of Dakshin Kannada district.
