Rains expected in coastal districts for three days from Apr 18

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Weather department officials have announced that parts of coastal Karnataka may experience rain accompanied by thunder and storms for the next three days starting from April 18.

On Wednesday morning, overcast conditions prevailed in most parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. However, the temperature later soared, resulting in unbearable heat. Mangaluru city recorded a high of 36.1°C and a low of 28.2°C, while Udupi recorded a high of 37.7°C and a low of 26.4°C.

Rains are expected to occur on Thursday in parts of Dakshina Kannada, Belagavi, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, and Mysuru.

On April 19 and 20, rains are forecasted in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Hassan. Additionally, winds are expected to blow at speeds of 30 to 40 km per hour.

The weather department has also predicted a rise in temperature by three to five degrees over the next five days in most parts of Karnataka.

Meanwhile, North Karnataka is experiencing extreme heat, with Kalaburagi recording the highest temperature at 41.4°C on Wednesday. Other areas experiencing high temperatures include Raichur (40.8°C), Bengaluru (36.7°C), Bagalkot (39.8°C), Mandya (38.6°C), Davanagere (39.7°C), Chamarajanagar (37.4°C), and Chitradurga (38.5°C).
