Video: Man attempted to immolate himself besides holy Kaaba, arrested

DUBAI: Saudi security forces at the Grand Mosque in Makkah on Monday succeeded in preventing a man, who is attempting to set himself ablaze beside the holy Kaaba.
According to Al-Alarabiya reports, the man identified as Saudi national and in his 40s, was dousing himself in gasoline to immolate but was arrested before he could do so.
“He was held before he went on with his dramatic self-immolation act and his behaviour indicates that he is mentally ill. All the necessary measures will be taken,” the spokesman said, quoted by Saudi news site Sabq.
A Saudi citizen noticed the man spilling liquid on his clothes grabbed the bottle and cried for help. “As I was circling the Kaaba at around 11:40pm on Monday, I saw a man pouring gasoline from a bottle on Kaaba and uttering takfiri expressions [pronouncing that someone or something is un-Islamic],” Ghazi Darweesh said.
A video footage circulated on social media, could not immediately be verified shows the mentally-ill man being hustled away by security guards and few pilgrims who was getting ready to pour material that would have lit him.
