Tree fall on Bhatkal National Highway blocks traffic for about an hour

Bhatkal - 29 Aug 2012: Traffic on the busy NH-66 was disrupted for about an hour following a huge tree falling on the highway near Haneef Abad cross, Bhatkal. Long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road was seen for many kilometers. The road was cleared only after the forest department personnel removed the tree with the help of JCB machine. The tree also brought down electic poles and wires due to this, there was no electricity and the entire area was in the dark.

It may be noted that, due to heavy rain from the past 3 days, many trees and electric poles have been uprooted and the reports of house collaspse are also recieved from several places and the low lying areas are partly submerged in the water due to this flood like situation is seen in many areas.
