Roads, new building, solid waste disposal management, LED street lights on Jali Panchayat's developmental agenda

Bhatkallys News.com Service | March 24, 2017 BHATKAL - Jali Town Panchayat has appealed for  10 crores as special grant for  roads and  storm water drainage from the government. Speaking to Bhatkallys.com, Abdurrahim Shaikh, president of Jali Town Panchayat, said, "Besides asking for 10  crores, we have also urged our honorable chief minister to grant us an additional Rs.4.5 crores for new office building, solid waste management and street lightings. Our MLA Mankal Vaidya  has extended his full support to our developmental plans and he is using his good  offices  to convince the CM for sanction of grants." Jali Town Panchayat which was recently upgraded from a village panchayat into a town panchayat  has a voting population  of 19000 (2011 census). A team of Jali town  panchayat members led by its president met the  CM in Bengaluru  and submitted a memorandum outlining the development works and appealed to him to sanction the requested grants.   Abdurrahim said that plans are on the cards  to instal street lights  falling under its jurisdiction to  be fitted with  LED (light-emitting diode) lights replacing the  conventional power lamps. This will save lot of energy and power bills will be significantly reduced. Rs. 50 lakh has been demanded for this purpose. Abdurrahim added, "We have identified three plots for construction of new building  to house the  JTP office." On solid waste disposal management, he said, "We have re-submitted the proposal  to the  forest department to sanction us the dumping yard, compost machinery, etc. This will require a fund of Rs. 1 crore."
