Bhatkal 11 September 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) With a couple of weeks still left for the Monsoon to come to an end, residents in Mundali and Nastaar locality, are now worried over the poor road conditions. They complained that the Panchayath has failed to take any steps in all these years.
Some of the roads between Mundali and Nastaar in residential areas, including Agrakatte are yet to be re-laid now for over five years since its constructions. The residents complained of water stagnation on roads during the recent rain.
The residents of Agrakatte locality said that water stagnation was a common problem in their area.
Despite repeated petitions to the Panchayath officials, neither repair works were carried out nor the road was re-laid. The residents claimed.
They said that due to frequent movement of heavy vehicles, including the KSRTC buses the condition of the road worsened.
They said that gravels protruded on the road surface that damaged the tyres of vehicles and also can also cause accidents.
Some of the residents were worried about the danger these roads posses to the vehicles plying between the roads especially the KSRTC buses which commute the school and college students everyday.
"These roads have turned dangerous, because the road is narrow and passes through rivers on its both the sides so in any mishap this can prove to be dangerous, the authorities need to pay immediate attention to this" they add.
It will be interesting to see how the authorities respond to the issue now, as the residents themselves are concerned about the safety of passengers and tourist who visit the local beach at Nastaar in numbers everyday.
