Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Rizwan Gangavali Bhatkal 11 May 2017:The Bhatkal Forest department officials today demolished an house here on Jali road which was reportedly built only 8 days earlier, charging the residents of the house with a case of illegally acquiring the forest land. The residents of the house on the other hand staked their claims on the land by citing that they were living on the land for more than twenty five years in a small hut. As per the residents, the hut caught fire few months back after which the family had to shift to an rented house before coming back to the land finding themselves helpless in affording the rent of the house which made them construct a house on their land eight days before it was demolished on Thursday. Speaking to the media, ACF Nandeesh Reddy said the land was made Athikram and a buiding was reconstructed on the land which is illegal. A case has been registered against the family accordingly. Reddy also warned people of stern action being initiated against those who are found involved in similar attempts.
