Bhatkal: Municipality employees call for officer's transfer after alleged physical assault

Bhatkal 20 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) An alleged physical assault on Town Muncipal Council(TMC) employee by a junior health officer triggered a protest by the local employees at the TMC office here on Thursday, 19 July. According to the reports, Ganaapati Mangala on Thursday applied for leave to Junior Health Officer citing personal reasons, JHO Anjay Bhandarkar, who allegedly lost his cool after receiving the application allegedly slapped Ganapati while also tearing off his clothes. Ganapati along with other colleagues reached police station to register a case against Ajay, but TMC Chief Officer Venkatesh Navoda, intervened and organized a meeting between the two parties and sorted out the issue. The employees during the meeting demanded Ajay's transfer to other department while also initiating action against him. The employees added that Ajay's rude behavior was not a new thing for the employees and that he used to harass them everytime. Venkatesh assured the employees of looking into the matter, and requested the employees to resume their work and call of the strike, which was then approved by the employees.
