Bhatkal: Man who translated Quran in Nawaiti, Mohtesham Usman passes away

Bhatkal 8 December 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Mohtesham Usman, who translated Quran in regional Nawaiti language, passed away in the wee hours of Saturday at his residence here in Bhatkal. He was 76. He was also the father of prominent dentist of the community Dr. Imran Mohtesham, who practices dentistry in Mangaluru and has carved a reputation for himself in the port city. Mohtesham Usman, translated the Tafseer by Moulana Abul Ala Moududi, into Nawaiti language, with an aim to make it easy for locals to better understand the interpretation of Quran by Moulana Abul Ala Moududi. His work however, has not hit the stands yet, and is under editing and reviewing process, which is now expected to be backed by the Bhatkal unit of Jamat-e-Islami Hind, as Usman Mohtesham was an active member of the organisation. Usman is also know for his contributions in establishing and bringing about reforms in the academics of Al-Kauser Girls Islamic college here in Bhatkal. The funeral prayers are expected to take place on Saturday afternoon at Khalifa Jamia Masjid Bhatkal.
