Bhatkal: Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem protest against Central government's order of widening NH66

Bhatkal 16 Aug 2017: Going against the recent decision of central government about the widening of NH 66 that passes through Bhatkal town, Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem today staged a protest and took out an rally which went on to submit an memorandum to the Assistant commissioner of Bhatkal. More than 30 NGOs lent their support and took part in protest alongside Majlis-e-Islah Wa Tanzeem.

Speaking to the media Muzammil Kazia, President Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem said after several earlier protests government had agreed to go ahead with the 30mtr widening of the NH66 but recently in an attempt to join the Bunder road with Sagar road government has decided to widen the Shamsuddin circle to 85mtrs which would result in effecting the beauty of the town and local traders will also face the consequences in their routine businesses. The memorandum proposed a flyover to be built from Usman Nagar to Hanifabad to minimize the impact.
Inayatullah Shabandri, Vice president Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem also addressed the media and claimed that they are in talks with the state ministry, and hoped the central government will not go against the will of the people and widen the NH66. He further threatened the government of staging an larger protest if their demands are not met by the government.
Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem was backed by Rabita society, Merchant association, and other NGOs in the protest.
