Bhatkal: Educationalist, Philanthropist Syed Abdullah Lanka no more

Prominent Bhatkal businessman, social worker, Philanthropist and Educationalist Syed Abdullah Lanka passed away in the wee hours of Wednesday at a private hospital in Bhatkal. He was 85.
Ailing from prolonged illness Syed Abdullah Lanka was admitted in a private hospital in Bhatkal earlier this week as his health was reportedly deteriorating.
Syed Abdullah Lanka, known for his generous nature was lauded by many for providing scholarships to hundreds of students of Bhatkal.
A founding member of Bhatkal’s Idara Tarbiat-e-Ikhwan, Syed Abdullah Lanka had also served as the President of Islamic Welfare Society which runs Welfare Hospital and loan free Islamic banking.
He was also a former president of Nawayath Mehfil.
His funeral rites were performed on Wednesday afternoon at Tanzeem Millia Masjid in Bhatkal. He is survived by his wife, four sons and three daughters.
Soon as the reports of his demise started doing rounds on social media early on Wednesday, hundreds of people mourned his demise and added that it was a great loss to fill to the community.
