Ankola car accident: Bhatkal student killed on his way to SSLC exams

Bhatkal/Ankola 21 March 2019:(Bhatkallys News Bureau) One person died while two others sustained injuries, after the car in which they were travelling in, over turned after the driver lost control over the wheels here at National Highway-66 near Ankola on Thursday, 21 Feb.
The deceased has been identified as Moulvi Hafiz Shammas Golte (21), a resident of Kazia Street of Bhatkal. The injured victims have been identified as Ahmed Iyad Nadvi and Ismail Barmawar.
It has been reported that a group of five students were heading towards Karwar to write their SSLC exam in a car.
Sources added that, when the car was on its way to Karwar, it ran over a heap of sand beside the NH as a result of which the driver lost his control over the car and it toppled there.
Shammas Golte, who left the car window open sustained severe head injuries after he was hit by a rock when the car flipped over.
Two passengers sustained minor injuries while two others escaped unhurt in the incident.
The injured were soon rushed to the hospital while the deceased was shifted to Government hospital of Ankola for post mortem.
More than 50 students every year from Bhatkal go to Karwar to write their SSLC exams from private seats. Similarly, this year too, about 50 students have registered their names to write SSLC exams externally.
A case has been registered at Ankola Police Station.
